Mentoring

Mentoring sessions with Vibrant Life Photography are now available!

How did you get your start in photography? How do you do what you do? What do I need to know to start a business? I get these questions a lot, and unfortunately I don’t have time to respond to each request individually. There is obviously a need, and I have decided to start offering private one-on-one mentoring sessions for aspiring & beginner photographers!!

Mentoring sessions will take place on a weekend here in the Denver area, and will begin at about 1pm and run until around 7:30pm or sundown.  Each session will include hands-on shooting time in addition to learning time.  Sessions will be tailored to your specific desires and we will cover any and all topics that interest you!  I will have a basic agenda, but if you would prefer more time spent on a certain topic we can certainly do that instead.  We will work on whatever you need most.

Mentoring sessions will cover:

-basic photographic techniques, including how to use your camera, composition, exposure, depth-of-field, etc.
-a critique of your portfolio & website including suggested areas for growth
-pricing overview and advice
-my basic workflow and editing, including tips and tricks for photoshop
-vendor recommendations including getting to see my products in person
-1 hour (or longer, depending on the light) photo session where we will practice shooting each other, as well as a mock client of your choosing (you will choose between maternity, couple, newborn*, or children). During this shoot we will discuss the things we’ve learned during the day and put them into practice on a real shoot!

*mentees requesting newborn sessions may end up with their mentoring sesssion starting earlier than 1pm.

Throughout the day, you will get the opportunity to pick my brain about anything and everything relating to my business. I will be an open book and share anything you would like to discuss. From how to work your camera, to how I got my start in the business, to marketing ideas and tricks. I will share it all!

Private mentoring sessions are $495.

Unfortunately due to time constraints and having two busy preschool aged children, I cannot personally respond to everyone who emails me about starting up a photography business.  I developed these mentoring sessions to allow anyone serious about starting up a photography business an opportunity to pick my brain! Workshops

I am available to speak to your group and give a workshop on taking better pictures of your children/family. This can be great for a MOPS group, a church group, or any other group with beginning photographers interested in learning a bit more about shooting children & families. Cost per attendee will vary depending on the scope of the talk and how many people attend. Please contact me for details.

Better Pictures Workshop

I have plans to hold at least one workshop in the South Denver area in 2010, probably in late summer or early fall.  The workshop will cover basic photographic technique in photographing children and will be geared towards parents with children and not photographers who plan to open businesses (If you want information about starting a photography business, see Mentoring Sessions above).  The cost for this workshop will be in the $75-$125 range.
