What is a custom photography session like?

Hiring a custom photographer to create your family’s portraits is a unique experience. You will not be rushed through a 30 minute session so I can get on to the next client, or forced to choose between 4 proofs on the spot. When you hire me you are hiring a professional who will take the time that is necessary to capture images that are as unique as the personalities that make up your family.

Unlike the big box chain stores, I do not book sessions back to back.  Instead, I make sure to keep everyone relaxed and having fun! After all, a relaxed and happy subject always makes for a better portrait! I take time to get to know your children before I ever start shooting, I talk with them, show them my camera, and find out what they love doing.  Then I play games, make funny noises, lay on the ground, jump up and down, and in general keep things lighthearted and it shows in my images!  Children photograph best and most naturally when they are relaxed.  My goal is to capture the essence of who your child is in beautiful unique portraits, not necessarily a cheesy grin by forcing them to smile by saying “cheese”.

Full custom portrait sessions last anywhere from 1-3 hours, and especially with younger children we will take breaks if needed to make sure everyone remains in good spirits.  I am a “lifestyle” photographer, meaning I work on location and will come to your home or nearby location and create beautiful and unique artwork for your walls.   Due to being on location, no two sessions are alike, and your portraits will be a reflection of who you are at this moment in time! Above all else, when you invest in a custom photography session with me, you can expect my full attention to capturing the images you most desire!  For all sessions, I spend hours in the digital darkroom perfecting your images, and I guarantee you will love them for years to come!
