Glow | Denver Maternity Photography

September 5th, 2010

Here are just a couple from yet another gorgeous maternity session I shot last week! What a fun session! You can tell by the light that we had an insanely gorgeous evening to work with. I will definitely have to come back and share more of this session!

How cute is their little one? She was adorable with those big brown eyes, but wasn’t so sure about the camera lady at first…

What a gorgeous evening!  This is by the lake in Washington Park, it was just beautiful. I love the peaceful look on her face in this one.

The Little One | Denver Children’s Photographer

August 26th, 2010

Yesterday the littlest one went off to preschool to join her big brother. I can’t believe how grown up she looks in these pictures! These shots show me just how much she is growing up! Luckily for her parents, having her big brother in the same Montessori school made for an easy transition yesterday. She did great and was so excited to finally be going to school! So here I sit, home alone for the 2nd day in a row. Hopefully it will mean lots of productive work-time for me!

Here is my baby. (Check out the awesome bokeh in my front yard! Who knew?)

Doll Baby | Denver Baby Photographer

July 18th, 2010

Look at this perfect little doll I got to meet yesterday. Baby K is seriously a total doll baby, so incredibly cute and sweet too! Mom and Dad wanted some outside shots, and I was slightly worried about the 100 degree weather yesterday, but turns out what we really needed to worry about was the crazy wind!  Even though she was only 6 weeks old, she was so awesome for our session, even in the wind! I suspect she liked the warm weather, but not the wind so much. She only cried a few times when it would blow really hard, she did so awesome!

In any case, she didn’t disappoint and she made my job easy. What a pretty little model!  Can’t wait to see you all again as she grows. Mom and Dad, I hope you like these!

I love how you can see her long curly lashes in this next one…

We got a few awesome sunbreaks…and this was one of them where we were ready and waiting!

Aren’t they just the cutest little family?

Thanks again C family, it was lovely meeting you all!

Beautiful Kids | Denver Family Photographer

July 15th, 2010

How cute are these two? We met up yesterday evening for a photo session, and as I was prepping for the session we started getting a massive thunderstorm. Luckily in Denver usually they blow over quickly if it’s not too black outside, so I thought we would still be good for a photography session! Well, as soon as I got to the location, the big black cloud that was already East of us started turning around and coming back! When does that happen?

Anyway, we sort of lost our pretty dappled sunlight, but managed to get some really cute shots anyway!  Little B is almost a year old, and in that perfect-for-photography “I can stand but not yet walk” phase. So cute, and the best part was that he wasn’t able to run from me. :)

Isn’t he the cutest? I love his little pout here.

Big sister E on the other hand was quite capable of running, and run she did! Away from the crazy photographer lady!  Though mom and I were able to coerce her into just a couple photos with baby brother.

And she did find my antics a tiny bit amusing…see, I got a smile!

Anyway, fun seeing you guys again! Hope you like these mama! :)

Wildflowers | Denver Family Photographer

June 23rd, 2010

If you are a parent of a child older than about a year, you know how difficult it is to take photos of your child. Well, if you are a professional photographer and your kids have PCS (photographer’s child syndrome) then multiply this difficulty by about a million. That’s how excruciating it is to take pictures of your own kids that you actually want to hang on your walls.  My kids in particular are so sick of the camera that anything, even a speck of dust, is more interesting than me behind it (usually making really funny noises…come on kids, look over here, isn’t mommy funny? — that usually results in the blank stare).

Anyway, around where we live just south of Denver are these huge fields of gorgeous yellow weeds wildflowers. I’ve been eyeing them for over 3 weeks, but we’ve had company in town and have had a ton going on around here. Driving the kids around to their activities I even spotted THE FIELD. It had the perfect exposure, perfect light, and a sidewalk for easy access (since I’ve heard there can be snakes here in Denver, and I’m deathly afraid of snakes).

So I decide that tonight is the night. I get the kids fed early, make sure their clothes are clean and ready to go, and I have a bribe for when we get home (aka, strawberry shortcake they would have had for dessert anyway, but might as well use it to my advantage and get some photography out of the deal, right?)

So, we load up my new favorite prop, my red chair, and the kids and my husband assistant hop into the car and off we go to my perfect field. Only, where are those flowers? Why are there TRACKS where my field used to be? That’s right, someone has mowed down my weeds wildflowers, within the 48 hours prior. I was JUST here, it was gorgeous. The sun is setting and I’m in a panic. Luckily my husband assistant kept driving around and our area is still flush with these lovely weeds wildflowers. So we found a pretty unassuming spot and I had to make due with less flowers than planned.  But luckily, everyone was in a good mood, I got what I wanted, and they got strawberry shortcake.

A successful photo shoot indeed! And I got the shots I’ve wanted ever since we moved here.

Here they are. Aren’t these kids just the cutest?? I just love them. xoxoxo.

Nursery Contest Winner!! | Castle Rock Family & Baby Photographer

May 16th, 2010

This little guy’s nursery was the winner of my nursery contest, and due to the sickies that have been making the rounds around my house, we had to reschedule our session from a few weeks ago. Well, yesterday was the big day!  When mom and I had initially chatted, it was mentioned that she wanted to capture in pictures just how happy her little guy is!

Well, little P did not make my job hard. He was the most happy, easygoing baby ever! I only had to resort to funny squacking noises at the very end because he pretty much smiled the entire time with very little craziness from me. At 6 months old, he is such a happy little guy! And I got some really great snuggles at the end, too. Mom and Dad, it was great meeting you both! You have a gorgeous family!

So here is the nursery:

And here is the darling little guy who lives here:

Product showcase | Gallery Mounts | Denver Baby & Family Photographer

May 4th, 2010

Oh man, the sickies have hit our house in a major way this past week. And now it’s my turn. I hate being sick because once I’m better then I have twice as much to do to catch up! We have a busy mother’s day weekend (not to mention the clients I had to reschedule) so I need my health back ASAP!

Ok, on to these amazing products! I am long overdue to start sharing pictures of some of the awesome stuff I offer, so here goes.

First up are Gallery Mounts!  They are one of the favorite items that I offer! Lots of clients are in love with canvas (and rightly so, because they are beautiful) but another option that I love that is a bit less expensive is a Gallery Mount. These pieces come with an actual print mounted on a substrate that is about 1″ thick, and they standout from the wall just like a canvas would.  They look like a really heavy piece of art, but the best part is that when you go to pick them up they are actually light as a feather! This is a really tailored and modern way to display your images either alone with other framed prints, or in a wall gallery together!

In this example it is just sitting on a bookshelf but these look awesome mounted on the wall!!  This is a 16×20 and it honestly could have been quite a bit bigger!

If you would like more information about a portrait session with Vibrant Life Photography and how you can create your own wall gallery with these gorgeous prints, shoot me an email! laura@vibrantlifephotography.com

Stay tuned for images of my gorgeous custom image boxes (that come with the full digital collections)! They are amazing and one of my favorite products! So far I’ve not managed to hold onto one long enough to take proper photos of it, but I now have my very own studio sample I can photograph to my hearts content. I will share that as soon as I get time (and get better!)

12 days new | Denver Baby Photographer

April 22nd, 2010

Look who I got to meet today?

This little sweetie, baby W, was such a good boy for our session today. Mom told me he was still just a teeny tiny thing, and she was right. He was so tiny and perfect!  When I first arrived he was a little annoyed that I kept messing with him, but he finally gave in to my fiddling and fell fast asleep. :)

This next picture was actually one of the last ones I took.  A storm was brewing so we hurried outside to get a few shots and thought we had about 15 minutes.  Well, no more than 2 minutes after I shot this picture, the sirens started going off. (Being new to Denver I had no idea what the sirens were for…) but turns out there was a TORNADO sighting in the area! Obviously that cut short our outdoor newborn session, but luckily I got this amazing gem before we had to run back to the car!  And I’m not so sure I like the idea of living in tornado country…but I suppose living in Denver now I will have to learn to deal with it! I think it was worth it to brave the storm, what do you think?

Here are a few more:

It was so nice to meet you all today. Enjoy your new little bundle. :)
